Dear Akora,
I am happy to report that since we launched our appeal to Akoras to pay their dues on 21st September 2021, as many as 141 Akoras have responded positively and paid up. We thank them for this.
We have tried hard to issue receipts to all those that we could identify from the transfer or payment information provided. There are still some 15 payments that have not been identified and we are working on them. Please provide details of name and Year Group when making payments.
A good number of well-meaning Akoras have appealed to us to delay the publication of the names of those who have paid their dues. They have clearly shown a willingness to pay and understand that the publication is not about “naming and shaming”. It is about making sure that our records are accurate. It is indeed about transparency.
We are therefore delaying the publication for a few weeks as we try to identify all those who have recently paid, and give time to those well-meaning Akoras who want to do the needful.
Once again, we thank the 141 people who have paid their dues in the last week. We also thank the 452 who paid their dues last year and since the beginning of the year. OAA appreciates their responsiveness. Their payments will go a long way to improve the Secretariat.
The OAA Executive Committee will meet with all Year Group representatives next week. They have already been duly invited. Akoras may send any matters of interest through their reps for consideration. Thank you.
Ernest Aryeetey
OAA President
