The donation was done by Akora Dr. Alex Boafo (OAA’68) based in the USA in the company of Akora Gwenda Sam (OAA’68) and General Manager of EDERICK LTD, Ghana Agents for Whirlpool, Philips, Haier.
Akora Dr. Boafo presented to the School Tennis Team the following:
1. 20 Tennis Rackets
2. 1000 Tennis Balls
3. 10 Tennis Racket Covers
4. 10 Tennis Shoes
In his presentation, he stressed his passion to give back to the school that made him who he is today. His desire to see world tennis players groomed from Achimota School. He emphasize the need to strengthen the school team through a well-planned training programme. And promised to get more of such donations to the team.
On receiving the items on behalf of the School, the Headmistress thanked Akora Dr. Boafo for such a laudable gesture. She said developing the school’s young tennis (and other sports) talents has been a major challenge because of the cost of equipment. The donation have therefore come at an opportune time. The school she said, was much Grateful for the support.
Samuel Papachie, the Head Boy on behalf of the students also expressed his appreciation to Dr. Boafo and promised they will use the items to the maximum.
Present during the presentation were, Management Members, Mr. Anthony Adjetey Adjei, Director of Studies & Liaison Officer, OAA Affairs, Akora Robert Sowatei Adjei, Patron of the School’s Tennis Team and Mary Apedo, Head of P.E. Dept.Prefects and students.
